Introduction

This multi-site infrastructure rollout formed part of the ACT Government-partnered Return-It Container Deposit Scheme across Canberra. Delivered by key RECON leadership personnel, the programme involved the staged delivery of container return facilities across active public environments, including shopping centres, public carparks, and industrial-style processing facilities.

Key Challenges

Multi-site rolling delivery | Live public and retail-adjacent environments

Our Approach

Acting as principal contractor, the team managed end-to-end delivery across the programme, including approvals, coordination, fitout works, and container infrastructure installation. Works were carefully staged and frequently undertaken after hours to minimise disruption to surrounding operations and public access. Each site was delivered under compressed timeframes, with installation periods often completed within approximately one week following material arrival. The programme was delivered through a rolling deployment model, allowing multiple sites to progress concurrently as approvals and site access were secured.

Outcome

The rollout was successfully delivered across 10+ locations throughout Canberra, supporting the expansion of the ACT Container Deposit Scheme while maintaining safe, uninterrupted public operation throughout delivery. The programme reflects RECON leadership’s experience in fast-paced, compliance-driven, multi-site project delivery within active environments.
